School Direct Teacher Training Placements

Teaching can be an immensely rewarding career choice and these training placements will help you develop the skills and gain the necessary experience required for you to become a fully qualified teacher.

On this page you will find important information for:

  1. Recruitment
  2. All applicants
  3. Overseas applicants
  4. Selection process
  5. Partner Schools

1. Recruitment

2017-2018
We have completed our recruitment for the training year 2017-2018. Thus there are no vacancies at the moment.

2018-2019
Recruitment for the training year 2018-2019 will begin in late September/early October 2017.

2. All applicants

Please read our Entry Profile on the UCAS website carefully. It will tell you what we expect in the way of qualifications, experience and approach.
Please do not send any details of yourself, nor your applications to the schools. We are only able to process applications via the UCAS system.
Please note that we do not confirm receipt of applications, although information concerning your application will be updated on the UCAS website.

3. Overseas applicants

If you have overseas equivalent qualifications, it is very important that you check that your qualifications are accepted by the university. NARIC is one way of checking whether your qualifications are accepted in the UK but not all universities accept NARIC (https://www.naric.org.uk/naric/). The university makes the final judgement on equivalency.

Please be aware that an English exam taken overseas as a foreign language exam is not the same as an English GCSE taken in England. You may be required to take an Equivalency test or an IELTS. Please see the DfE website for more information:

4. Selection process

Each partner school has their own selection schedule and process. Applicants will be advised accordingly by the appropriate school.

Gladesmore Community School selection process

After careful perusal of application forms, we will invite successful applicants to attend for skill level interviews, including a numeracy test and a formal writing test. Should this section of the interview process go well, then applicants will be invited to spend a further day working in the classroom alongside experienced teachers, as well as have a short interview with the Head teacher. Those applicants who are successful at this stage will be invited to formal interviews, when we hold formal selection panel interviews and provide applicants with the opportunity to teach a lesson in their subject.
