Students in Year 7 have just started their first Citizenship Unit which is titled: What is democracy?  As part of this unit, we arranged for UK Parliament to visit to present to Year 7 about the role of parliament and also about how young people can engage with parliament (even before they can vote). 

The interactive presentation was extremely interesting with pupils sharing their own ideas for how the local area could be improved.  Pupils also commented that it was inspirational to hear about how other young people had effected change e.g. by securing changes to A-level syllabuses or forcing MPs to debate petitions.
