Curriculum Overview

Gladesmore Community School are committed to:

  • teach the National Curriculum, including religious education and sex education
  • teach about drugs as per the science element of the National Curriculum
  • provide for physical education
  • avoid political bias
  • provide independent careers education and guidance
  • make provision for pupils with special educational needs
  • decide whether to disapply aspects of the curriculum to provide more time for other aspects, such as the work-related curriculum or basic skills
  • provide a daily act of collective worship

KS3 Curriculum (Years 7, 8 and 9)

Our 3-year Key Stage 3 curriculum is deliberately broad.  Pupils all study:

  • Mathematics
  • English
  • Science
  • Languages: French or Spanish
  • Humanities: History, Geography, Religious Education
  • Computer Science
  • Physical Education
  • Arts: Drama, Art, Music,
  • Technology: Food, Design Technology
  • Accelerated Reader
  • PSHE, Citizenship & Careers

KS4 Curriculum (Years 10 and 11)

Our 2-year Key Stage 4 curriculum is designed to maximise achievement for pupils so that they can progress to further study and work.  At the end of Year 9, we work with parents/carers to enable pupils to make appropriate course choices. 

Pupils will all study:

  • GCSE English Literature
  • GCSE Science (Combined Science or Triple Science)
  • PE
  • RE
