COVID19 Update: Obviously the pandemic means that we have had to adapt our usual PE lessons. We include information below about what we hope to offer, but we may have to make alterations at short notice. One important thing to be aware of is that we will NOT be providing changing facilities. On the days when pupils have PE, they will come to school in your PE kit and stay in their PE kit all day.
Physical Education has a high profile at Gladesmore Community School. Our experienced and enthusiastic PE team aim to broaden and develop pupils’ physical, mental and social wellbeing through the medium of sport and exercise.
Facilities: Our facilities are exceptional for an inner London School. We are blessed to have access to a full-size Astro-Turf, a full-size Sports hall, an Acrobatic gym, a Dance studio, two Multi Use Games Areas and a modern Fitness suite. In addition to this, the School is located next to Markfield Park which we can use for both our outdoor PE lessons and after-school fixtures.
PE lessons: The PE department provide fun, challenging and varied PE lessons that focus on a range of team and individual sports across each season of the year. Please see the curriculum map below to experience a sense of the range of sports and activities offered to pupils.
Extra-curricular opportunities: There are lots of extra-curricular PE opportunities at Gladesmore and the school is a strong competitor at borough and county level.
A few recent accolades include:
- U13 Boys Football team becoming Middlesex Football Champions (2019-20)
- Four individual boys’ and girls’ Athletics teams winning Borough Athletics Competitions last summer.
However, the PE Department recognises that not everyone can or needs to be a champion athlete to benefit from engagement in PE. We host clubs on a regular basis for all pupils including Football, Netball, Basketball, Dance, Rugby, Trampolining and Athletics. We invite all our pupils to try a new activity and get well and truly stuck into Sport!
