Red Card Gambling (Year 11) - Thursday 20/04/23
Although Year 11 are on the verge of sitting their GCSE exams, our commitment to their wider social and emotional development is undimmed. Haringey Public Health Team have highlighted that gambling is a public health risk in Haringey and that young people are especially vulnerable to gambling addiction.
On Thursday 20th of April, Year 11 were lucky enough to hear from a gambling addict in recovery. Year 11 were visibly moved by his own account of the impact of gambling on his financial health, mental health and the impact on his relationships and family.
After the events Year 11 commented that the speaker made them think differently about gambling, particularly with reference to loot boxes in online gaming.
