Advice for SEND Parents
This is a challenging time for all young people and all parents/carers. However, we recognise that for parents of students with SEND, there may be particular challenges. The SEND team are here to support you and liaise with the professionals who support your child. Although visits to school are generally discouraged, the school values the input of SEND professionals and so these will continue to work with your child either remotely or in person.
Jane Wright and members of the AEN team (School SENCo) will contact SEND parents regularly via email with advice, support and guidance. If you are not receiving these emails, please contact email@example.com so that you can be added to the list. We know that sometimes emails can be hard to find and so we have provided a full index of these emails with resources at the bottom of this page.
- The school is providing remote learning for all pupils who are not in school. If pupils are not in school (even for a day), they should follow their normal school timetable accessing resources as instructed by their teacher.
- SEND students often benefit from chunking work down into smaller, more manageable pieces.
- Focus on the positive - celebrate what has been achieved
- Encourage your child to contact their teacher if they are struggling or unclear - teachers can provide support through Google Classroom, Satchel:one or by email.
- If it all goes wrong, don't worry! At this time, the most important thing is the emotional wellbeing of you and your child - prioritise this above everything else!
