Own Your Learning
At Gladesmore Community School we know that pupils are most successful when they take responsibility for their own learning and progress. In order to develop pupil independence, the school has devised a programme called "Own Your Learning". At its heart, "Own Your Learning" models different ways that pupils can take control of their own learning.
Own Your Learning Lesson
On Thursday morning, pupils in Key Stage 3 participate in a lesson titled "Own Your Learning". Pupils are introduced to a wide range of strategies that they can use to own their learning.
My Learning Journey
Gladesmore Community School wants our pupils to be active learners. We know that learning is more effective when it begins and continues outside the classroom. The "Own Your Learning" team has created a website called "My Learning Journey", specifically made for and only accessible to Gladesmore pupils, which contains resources and links for pre-learning curated by pupils' classroom teachers.
To support pupils independent study, the school has purchased a subscription to GCSEPod. Pupils are actively encouraged to build watching pods into their ongoing learning.

Make Year 10 Count
The Make Year 10 Count initiative is designed to encourage pupils to maximise Year 10. Pupils benefit from individual interviews with members of Gladesmore Community School staff focused on their current progress and their future plans.
Make Year 11 Count
The Make Year 11 Count initiative builds upon the success of Make Year 10 Count by encouraging pupils to reflect on their progress so far and to set goals for the future.
