Consultation on adjustment to Haringey's secondary community schools published admission number (PAN)

Shaping the future of secondary education in Haringey

This consultation runs from 7 November to 12 December 2016.

Main issues:

  • At present the majority of secondary schools in Haringey have PANs that are wholly divisible by 27

  • We want to adjust this number to 30, the standard number for the vast majority of secondary schools across London and England

  • The Department for Education will shortly be introducing changes to school funding with the introduction of the national funding formula

  • These changes will mean Haringey will lose the right to locally distribute funds between primary and secondary schools

  • Funding will instead be allocated on a standard ratio based on a class size of 30 so secondary schools who retain PANs divisible by 27 will lose money

  • Changing secondary school PANs to 30 will also boost capacity

  • This can be done without the disturbance of building works and;

  • Will ensure Haringey can continue to supply sufficient places at our sought after secondary schools
